How the 10th, 12th, Grad scores and experience impact admission at top B-Schools

Comparison of the weightages of different components during the selection process for admission at top b-schools FMS New Delhi, XLRI, IIFT New Delhi, MDI, SPJIMR, JBIMS Mumbai, SCMHRD, NITIE Mumbai, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, and NMIMS

In our previous two articles - "How the 10th, 12th, Grad scores and experience impact admission chance at top IIMs", and "How the 10th, 12th, Grad scores and experience impact admission chance at new IIMs", we  covered the importance of academic profile (10th, 12th and Graduation marks), diversity (Gender and Undergraduate Stream), and work experience and their impact on the chances of your selection in top IIMs as well as new IIMs.

Other top b-schools in India, such as FMS New Delhi, XLRI Jamshedpur, IIFT New Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai, JBIMS Mumbai, SCMHRD Pune, NITIE Mumbai, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, NMIMS Mumbai have also evolved their admission and selection process to include the above mentioned factors. For example, SPJIMR Mumbai gives out interview calls to candidates based entirely on their profile (offer is conditional; the candidate must secure the minimum score in CAT or XAT).

While, these (non IIM) top B-schools have evolved their admission / selection process to reduce the bias towards the standardized test scores (e.g. CAT, XAT etc.), their weightage in the final selection is still high. However, past academic performance, work experience, gender diversity and extra-curricular activities etc. still come in to play for these b-schools.

In this article, we compare how the different components of aspirants' overall profiles are evaluated during the various stages at the (non IIM) top B-schools --
